- Title:Printing Blank and Filled In FormsPost:
Is there a way to print out my Overview and Detail forms as blanks to send to clients, and for new clients, to have them fill in the information requested?
Also, is there a way then to print out the filled in forms to have the client sign that the information imputed to the Bentor is accurate for their records and mine?
Thanks for your help,
PS thanks for the help repairing my DB
- Title:Importing from a Word tablePost:is there any way to import the data from a Word table into a Bento Library, other than entering each cell of the Word table into a new record/field?
- Title:Linking Email Messages to a Collection/FieldPost:
Is it possible to link (or automatically import) relevant emails to a collection. For example, I am creating a project and would like to create a field that links to emails pertaining to that project. Does anyone have any suggestion for this?
Thank you for your time.
- Title:Bento or FilemakerPost:
I ideally, want to use Bento/Filemaker on shared between 2 mac and 2 PCs (XP). I see you can get Filemaker for both platforms. Are they going to have a Bento PC version soon. I haven't seen one but maybe I missed it. I would like to run the database from one computer and have all the others log into it so I don' t have to move the db all around and forget which computer I made the changes on etc. Any advice??
- Title:Folders to group contacts, to do, customers by businessPost:
I would like to group my address book, customer list and to do's so that there is a separate file folder for each business that I operate.
In other words: Amazon Folder would hold Amazon Address Book, Amazon Customers, Amazon To Do. BioFoam Folder would hold Biofoam Address Book, Biofoam Customer, Biofoam To Do.
Is this possible? If not, It would be a very helpful update!!!!
- Title:Including Email messages as a file within BentoPost:
I know that this has been mentioned before but I thought I would keep up the 'customer pressure'.
I really could do with a method to add email messages (note: not an email address) from the Apple Mail application to the Bento database. I had in mind a simple drag and drop mechanism. Any chance the developers could work on this?
In the meantime, does anybody have a work around. For instance a quick way (perhaps a script) to identify where an email message sits on the disk and its file name so the file can be manually copied to Bento?
- Title:Interlink Address Book-iCalPost:
I work for an advertising agency and have been using Bento for some weeks now to keep a list of clients (within Bento they're individual Company).
For each of these Clients I need keep company details (link Bento-Address Book) and calendar tasks (such as "emailed mr. x" or "call john"). For this I created a link to the Bento iCal Task panel.
When I'm inside the main page I can see all the company's details and also the tasks I've set for this company. When I edit them, things in Address Book or ical Task list change accordingly.
I need to keep an eye to the LIST of daily tasks in the iCal Tasks table so I know exactly what I have to do, the problem is that I never know what company I'm talking about.
Say I'm inside company "SUPERSOUP". In my iCal Task related file table I select 26th June and digit "Call John".
Then I switch to viewing the list of tasks in the iCal Tasks table page, I can see "26th June Call John" but there's no way i can see it's related to SUPERSOUP company.
How can I solve this problem?
Thanks for any help! :)
- Title:create library from a folder of filesPost:
Hi. I'm glad to see an active forum here with such great help. I'm trying to get started.
I teach movement classes, and the content of each class is a lesson, for which I have notes, which exist as Pages documents in a folder on my hard drive.
I'd like these documents (well, their names and perhaps some metadata) to exist as a library in Bento. Ideally this library would be synced to the folder in which the documents reside, so that when I create new lesson-notes, this new lesson would show up automagically in the Bento library.
Once I have a library of notes, I'll be interested in linking them to the clients who have received each lesson. I think I can figure that out. But is there any way to use (and stay synced with) my folder of notes? It would be like making a smart-library whose entries are located in a specified place.
- Title:Printing needs detailed examplePost:
I have seen that you have been requesting details as to printing needs. This is mine:
Each of my dB's have multiple forms per record (usually 4 or 5) and often multiple colums per form - some as much as 3 columns. Each dB will probably have about 200+ records in each.
Ideally, I would like to:
A) print an entire record out at once
B) print an entire library at once
C) even better would be to be able to print a selection of records, say if I used the search function and ten records came up, and I could print all ten records including all their individual forms
D) the there is always the completely new report style that doesn't even look like the dB. eg I select a record (or a number of them) and then select a pre-step up printing format. This printing format has allowed me to select the particular fields that I would like in my report - that currently may to displayed on separate forms - as some information might not be required for actual printing. But for each library there may be a couple of different reports - depending on the stakeholder requirements.
Currently, to print I would have to:
1) customise each form by:
a) changing to a single column
b) increasing font size (so that I can actually read what is printed)
c) increase each text record's field size - because of the increase font means that some of the text will be missing
2) Print each form for each record, individually. This could involve having to make more customise amendments to each form to ensure that none of the text is missing
3) Collate each record
So looking at my printing preferenve C) above: this would mean that I would need to customise 50 individual pages to get the report I needed.
BUT this also means that there is no way of printing in duplex - which means I will also be wasting paper!! as well as hours of my time!
I am happy to expand on any of these points I have raised.
Please "marketing department" do something urgently regarding the printing of reports.
- Title:Sharing media files from one mac to anotherPost:I have created a home inventory database on Bento that has 350 records with no connection to the Address Book. Each record has four "media" fields that are JPG files (not in iPhoto). The database was created on my MacBook and I would also like be able to access and review it on my Imac. I understand that I can copy the database file onto my Imac and will be able to access the files. Assuming that I also copy the JPG files onto the Imac, will the database find and retain all the JPG images and their respective settings? Thanks
