    Title:
    Automatic counter question
    Post:
    Hi again,

When inserting an automatic counter, I would like to know whether there's an option to reprogram the counting based on the date field which is inserted in the data form.
E.g.: if you enter data that was related to events on Jan 5th '08 and later on enter data that was related to events on Dec 24th 2007, the automatic counter automatically marks the first entered data as 1 and the second data as 2. I would like an option to tell the counter that I want the oldest data to be labelled as 1 and the most recent as 2. Is this possible?

    Cheers,
    Djenski.

I was wondering also whether there is an option for getting collections from a library to start from 1 instead in the counter field instead of following the library counting sequence.

Lets say the school has 1600 pupils and I extract a class of 25 people, I want to count from 1 to 25, not 65-90...

      Cheers!

Thank you both for your suggestions.

At this time, the "Automatic Counter" field numbers in record creation order.  There have been other users requesting something similar based upon either a found set of records or a sorted set of records.  In either case, I have forwarded both posts to our Development and Marketing departments for consideration.
